I got my information on this William Heffernan from, from a book "Pioneer Irish in New England", where it gave some background on this family. William's daughter Joanna Heffernan (Heifernan) married Christopher Vale in Boston, Ma. 21 Sep 1692. They had four children in Boston. After the births of these children Christpoher and Joanna just disapear. I come through their 2nd child, Edward Vale or Vail, b. 1695, born and lived in Boston.

In one accouunt it said that William came from Ireland as a servant of John Hollet. This was about 1661.I haven't found the details yet as I have just begun this research. William had made a complaint to Governor Prence of Plymouth Colony. Here his name was spelt William Hiferney, June 10, 1661 about being brought to America. William says he was stolen away and served 12 years and did not understand the terms as he was not acquainted with the English tongue. He was then living in Scituate, Ma.

On another page it named his wife, Susanna, dau of Edmund Groce. They married in 1664 some time after went they went to Pitta-quamsscutt in R.I. Later the family was in a place called Wickford, R.I. I have not found either on a map. Then he was in Newport, R.I. in 1676, and died there in 1680.

I just came across this Heffernan family this past week so I have just begun this Heffernan research so I have oodles of answered questions. As yet I have not had a chance to do anything in Ireland. I have no idea where in Ireland he may have come from. I would like to try and find some ship passenger list. I think if I could find out when this John Hollet came over, William should be listed with him. I know nothing about Rhode Island and Center Court. So you see all I have done so far is put things down on paper and now I begin the research. thanks for you rely. Aline
