I'm looking for info on Christian Heffelfinger, who married a woman named Maria and lived in what is now the Northwest portion of Montgomery Co., PA (probably around New Hanover, Upper Hanover, or Fredrick Twps.) I know of two children of this couple; Jacob H., born 23 MAR 1785, and Margaretha, born 08 SEP 1795. Jacob is my primary interest. He married Anna Umstad/Umstead on 19 JUL 1808 at the St. James Church, Perkiomen, Montgomery Co., PA. He died on 14 JUL 1854 in Limerick Twp. I have his 1850 census record, but it is not much help. It just lists him living with the family of John Miller. I don't beleive he is related to the Miller family. John and his wife were born before Jacob was married, so John's wife is not Jacob's daughter. Jacob's wife, Anna Umstad, is also in the 1850 census but she is living with the Henry and Barbara Derr family. Barbara was born abt 1810 and PROBABLY is Anna's daughter. Another of Anna's daughters, Hannah, is living with her at the Derr household. From the 1830 and 1840 US Censuses it is known that Jacob and Maria lived in Upper Providence Twp., in Montgomery Co., PA. From those censuses it is also known that they had 10 children; 4 males and 6 females. It would love to find the names of these children. Unfortunately, Internet searches, and research of John Humphrey's birth records of Philadelphia and Montgomery Cos., and other resources haven't turned up much. In fact, there is no mention of a Christian Hefflefinger in this forum. There is a John Hefflefinger, 25, listed in the 1850 census who is living in Frederick Twp., Montgomery Co., PA that could be a son of Jacob and Anna, but I have no proof. Hopefully some fellow Hefflefinger researchers can provide me with some info and or guidance? Thank you for your time, Charlie Kron Notify Administrator about this message?
