Who are these Heffelfinger's of Iowa? Isaac Webster was living in Dearborn Co., Iowa at the time. The Heffelfingers he was visiting in Ohio were William and Mary Garn Heffelfinger, but wonder who might the other mentioned in this letter. Any ideas?? Mary

Ashland, Ohio       November 4, 1873

Dear Children, This is Tuesday morning and we are at Uncle Dave's. The weather is nice and they are boiling apple butter and are all well. We have not our business matters all arranged as yet, but soon will be so that we can start for home but it is now too late for us to get home this week so that we can attend our quarterly meeting. I want you children to take care of the people and give Brother Hef's about three dollars for the preacher and if you have not the money, tell the boys to sell some wheat and get the money. Also tell Hef that I am satisfied with Bolster and am sorry that we can't get home to help take care of the meeting. We received your letter that was dated October 26th last Friday and were very glad that you are all well and getting along so well. Effie is playing with the children as I am writing while Ma and Allae are washing dishes. John Baron is here husking corn for uncle Dave. I was over to Weygandts Heffelfinger's yesterday, found them all well and were glad to see me.

We want to stop at uncle Isaac Maurers on our way home next week and if you get this letter soon and answer it right off and direct it to Fremont we will get it at Fremont. We shant stay but a little while. We want to get home. I am tired of visiting. Gran mother Maurer looks very old and her health is poor. She looks as her days are few, but she can still talk plain and her voice is strong and mind extremely good for a person of her age. Uncle Bill gave me five dollars for a pheasant. Uncle Bill says that he would give ten dollars to see a prarie hen. I might write many things but will not at this time. I must hurry off with letter to town so it will get in the mail. You can look for us about the 12th or 13th. I am going to ship a few more apples, some xxxx and some green and some clover. Hope this xxxx will find your all in good spirits with the XXX XXX and the corn all in the crib. Yours Respectfully,

                     Isaac Webster

**Uncle Dave if David Brandt.
