To Margaret Ernest,
On the wall above me as I write this are the framed Civil War discharge and promotion certificates of Charles H. Hook. Also the marriage certificate of Charles H. Hook and Callie Tefft dated 4/10/1867. My grandmother was Minnie Hook(6/10/1871-2/12/1947). She is buried in the Monroe, Iowa cemetery although she died in our house in Seattle just before I was born. My granfather Irvin (1871-1926)is also buried in the Monroe cemetery but not next to Minnie (I was told they didn't really get along). Thier second son, my dad, was actually named C.H. When he entered the navy during W.W. II he was told he needed actual names so he chose Charles Hook Heffelfinger. He was born in Monroe 10/14/04 and died in Seattle 5/5/60. I hope this helps
