I've been to your grandfather's grave in Sandy level since that is also where my great grandfather's grave is. and it was also Charles M's homeplace. The old well is still there along with a tobacco barn and the rubble of the stone house they lived in. the homeplace sets back up on a hill from the Pigg River. His headstone had fallen off the back and we set it back upright we also put a fence around the cementary. Ain't many folks buried there most graves are unmarked.
A funny story about your grandfather was that he use to "sit folks across the river" when it was high due to rain he would charge folks 5 or 10 cents to be carried across in his little boat and one time a fellow came to bank of the river and hollered up to Charles to "sit" him across the river and when Charles got down there he asked him if he had the proper fare and upon learning that the man didn't Charles told him that he was better off over there then
he'd be over here.
Susan Midkiff died in 1845.
Jacob, John, Phillip seemed to stay in the family as popular first names.
According to our records the Capt Phillip was not your Great Great Great Grandfather brother he was his nepew.
Two brothers come over from Holland Jacob and Capt Phillip.

I have access to a big book of Hedrick lineage that was made back in the 70's i believe.
