Iva was the daughter of Benjamin Shipley and Catherine Malinda Franklin Hedges. I have found an Iva L. Hedges who was the mother of one Luther Attkisson born 2/1/1893 died 3/27/1895 Bourbon Co., KS. The father is listed as James William Attkisson. Then I found a James William Attkisson marrying a Mary Elizabeth Watson 10/17/1898 and I locate them as a family in census. Is this James William the same as the father of Luther? Futhermore, on OneWorldTree for the Hedges family I find a listing for an Iva L. Hedges b.12/14/1867(no location) d. Sept.1932 Porterville, Bourbon Co., KS; burial in Rosedale Cem., Porterville, Bourbon Co., KS. Was perhaps Luther born out of wedlock? Did Iva and James divorce? I have not been able to locate Iva L. Hedges, or Iva Attkisson, on the 1900, 1910, 1920 or 1930 census; although I can locate other members of her family. Does anyone have any information as to what the truth is about this individual. I am related through her mother's line. Thanks in advance for any info pointing me in the right direction.
