Michelle,
I, too, am looking for the parents of William Harvey Hedden/Headen born 1855. Like Carolyn, I have had no luck in finding him on the 1850 or 1860 census. I don't think that the William Henry mentioned above is the same person as "our" William Harvey. I have the following info on the William who was the brother of "your" Nancy:
WILLIAM HENRY HEDDEN, b. Abt. 1852, GA; d. 1898; m. NANCY STEWART, Polk Co., TN; b. October 15, 1853; d. July 29, 1891.

Burial: Fairview Baptist Church, Archville, Polk Co., TN
In addition, we know that "our" William H. had a sister named Martha "Mattie" who was about 5 years older than him.
Thanks for the suggestion, though....we should leave "no stone unturned".
