Hello Harriet,

I am so interested in the line you are looking into. I want to find OUR connection. I will let you know as soon as I sort it out.

Our ancestors are worth the effort to connect the dots. As always, I am concerned the way NEW researchers grab onto the worst that has happened to our family and keep tauting it to the world. We have relations out there who will not admit their kinships because the only things that are repeated over and over are the negatives. My Great, Great Grandfather John Hedden(who was the son of Garret and the father of "the Garret" who was ambushed at the "stil" was a brave and envied man because of the respect he enjoyed from the 'people'. An attorney once wrote of him in the Atlanta Constitution, John Hedden is the head of the "freightenest clan" in the mountains" but he was known to be a fair and respected man in his dealing with others.

The Garret (John's son) who killed his brother was NOT a murderer. He killed his brother in defense of another helpless human being but because the "paper" said he murdered, every researcher who finds the articles keeps repeating that lie to the Hedden descendents through the message boards.

About 15 years ago, I was in a restaurant in Ducktown and there were two branches of the Hedden Clan present. It was a remarkable thing to watch. I din't say a word, just watched. Some of them were pitiful and quite shy but most had strong spirits. I loved it. Before I die, I want to hold the biggest REUNION the world has ever seen at a place I have ALREADY picked out and invite every living Hedden to come. I think we will have to do it in shifts over about two weeks. Teehee

I will prepare a power point presentation and once and for all tell the "rest of the story" and give the descendants something to be proud of....the true stories they can tell their children.

I'll be in touch.

Love, Cousin Michelle
