Please note the spelling of my maiden name. My gr grandfather John Hecktor born May 31 1832 supposedly came from the Alsace region which as I understand is the French/German border. He came to Illinois about 1850 - married Elisabetha Mueller, also German, in 1853 in St Clair County IL then moved about 50 miles south where he raised a family, farmed, and died in 1893. He, his wife, a probable brother, Nicholaus, along with his wife Johanna Oberle are all buried in Evansville IL. To the best of my knowledge they were Roman Catholic. I have been told there are still relatives living in the Kaiserslautern area of Germany. I don't know if this will be of any help but if your information should overlap with mine, please let me know.
