Hi Lorie,
The Indian roots did not come from the Hector side, James Hector (b. 1838) married his 2nd wife, Hannah Richards (maiden name-Campbell). She has the Indian roots. Since both were married before, I haven't worked out which siblings are from the union of James & Hannah & which are from the union of James & Nancy. I have been working on a different branch of my tree lately, so I will probably work on this branch later, probably not until winter. My mother-in-law had the papers they spoke of also, but can't seem to locate them. Her ggrandfather was James Hector.
