I don't know about Chas Hector, but you just described the ggg grandfather;s family of my husband's side. Lewis M (10 months) was my husband's gg grandfather on his mother's side. Lewis Murl (?) had children William, Merle Edison, Ray, Alma & Wilber. Merle Edison moved to Chgo & married Irene (not sure of maiden name)and had more children. My husband is from this line. He has also heard he has Cherokee in his blood. How do you go about proving something like this? His mom said she had some paperwork that said this, but she cannot locate it nor does she remember where it came from.
