This James Hector was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and emigrated to America with his wife Charlotte Teresa Mathieson and 4 children in 1820. He settled in Virginia where he bought huge quantities of land, which he later sold in small parcels. He eventually moved to Texas where a great many of his descendants still live.
