Toronto Hectors

Greetings all! I just discovered this site - wow! I have a tree dating back to 1610 "George or Alexander" Hector and it goes on down the line: George, John, Alexander, John, John, John, Andrew Edward, Alexander, Richard Henry Brooks (moved from Buxton circa 1921) David Murray, and me Geoffrey Andrew. I think I got them all. From browsing the postings, it looks like the furthest anyone's info goes is 1610. Is this right? Is there anything predating this?

My understanding is that these is some speculation that prior to 1610, the Hector family lived in Denmark. They were in the fishery business. About this time some Hectors moved to Aberdeen where the family business was continued. Does anyone know anything about this?

BTW - I'm in Ontario where our little group of Hector's has been since my grandfather, Richard Henry Brooks arrived in the early 1920's.

Also I would love to know who pulled together the family tree back to 1610 which some of you also appear to have - that's a lot of work!

Thx,

Geoff
