This is what I found in the Jaffrey Genealogy History on John Hecker who is buried in the Conant cemetery.
Among our citizens of foreign birth who responded promptly to the call of their adopted country at the outbreak of the Civil War was John Hecker, born in Baden, Germany January 14, 1826, son of Stephen & Susanna (Schneider) Hecker. He came to American about 1850 and about 1854 settled in Jaffrey, NH. He is remembered as a singer of some talent, a good neighbor and an honest man. Died in Jaffrey Sept. 3, 1900.
