I am not sure if I can answer your questions accurately. There appears to be considerable doubt about Friedrich Hecker's father actually being a Hecker by birth. Therefore, the real identity of Friedrich's grandmother may also be in doubt. The mayor and others in Eichtersheim (now Angelbachtal) speculate (based upon historical records and rumor) that George Joseph Hecker was the illegitimate son of the prince-primate and placed with the Hecker family after birth. Apparently, this was a commonly known scandal of which both the town of Eichtersheim and Baron Von Vennigen were supposed accommodate. The Hecker family was the respected, hereditary palace gardner for Baron Von Vennigen in Eichtersheim. Even though he was placed with the Hecker family after birth, George Joseph appearently did not phyically resemble anyone in the Hecker family as he grew up. While the rest of George Joseph's "brothers" continued on with the family tradition, he was sent away at the age of six to Mannheiem (the prince-primate's city) and later Heidelberg for a formal education (highly unusal for a gardner's son). When it became time to marry, a bride for George Joseph was chosen from an upper-class Mannheim family (named Von Luder, who some speculate would tradionally not marry a gardner's son). George Joseph and his wife lived in a large house in Eichtersheim (still stands)across from main entrance of the palace. He served as the Von Vennigen family chancellor until his death in 1856. The modest, but well-built Hecker family house was located on a smaller side street(still stands) . Also, it was considered highly unusual for Baron Von Vennigen to become the godfather of anyone outside the family, let alone a gardner's son named Friedrich Karl Franz Hecker born in 1811 (confirmed on the local catholic church birth certificate). recommend that you contact the Angelbachtal mayor and research the local church records for more information on the Hecker family.
