Kevin, I found a bit more for you. 1910 District 57, Chippewa Ward 1, Chippewa, WI 111 Culver Street HEBERT Alfred 56 widower edger - sawmill, born Canada French parents born Canada French immigrated 1856 Clara 24, daughter, divorced - 1 child born 1 living, waitress - hotel, born WI parents both born Canada William 16, son cutter shoe factory born WI parents both born Canada Charles 14, son born WI both parents born Canada Joseph 11, son born WI both parents born Canada Harvey 6, son born WI both parents born Canada in same house JAQUES Peter 30, son-in-law sawyer - sawmill, born MN parents both born MN Manda 26, daughter, born WI both parents born Canada ---------------------------- ** so first link to Canada __________________________________ 1900 District 40 Chippewa, Chippewa, WI 111 South State Street ( I wonder if Street name was changed and it is same house as house number same as 1910) HEBERT Alfred 46 born Nov. 1853 Canada French parents born Canada French, day laborer, married 17 years Lina, 37 born April 1863 WI parents born Germany, married 17 years 9 children born 8 living Amanda 16 born Aug. 1883 Clara 14, born Jan. 1886 Alfred 12 born March 1888 Annie 10 born March 1890 Omer 8 born Jan. 1892 Willie 6 born March 1894 Charlie 4 born March 1896 Joe 1, born April 1899 all these children born WI father born Canada French, mother born WI ** so some differences in place of birth from census to census but that is not unusual depending on who gave the info and what they really knew There is no 1890 census for most States so I went to the 1880 to find Alfred and his parents hopefully. there is a problem on ancestry.com with the page with this family so I went to familysearch.org to see it. I prefer ancestry.com because it is the actual image of pages while familysearch.org is a transcription but better than nothing, thats for sure. 1880 Chippewa Falls, Chippewa, WI HEBERT Abraham 60 keeps boarders born Canada parents born Canada Ombeline 56 keeping house born Canada parents born Canada Alfred 26 mill hand born Canada parents born Canada Archer 26 mill hand born WI parents born Canada Mary 19 born WI parents born Canada Emma 16 born WI parents born Canada Oliver 25 mill hand born Canada parents born Canada I put Oliver last as that is order in census. It seems very odd that Alfred and Archer would both be 26 , one born Canada one born WI I then decided to look for Abraham in 1900 to see if he and Ombeline were still living 1900 Ward 6, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa WI 523 Bridge Street BOUCHER Mary 39 widow born Nov. 1860 hotel keeper, born WI parents born Canada, 2 children born 2 living Wilfred - son, 19 born May 1881 clerk grocery, born WI father born Canada mother born WI Joseph - son, 17 born Jan. 1883 stone cutter born WI father born Canada mother born Wi in same house HEBERT Abraham father, 82 widower born July 1817 Canada parents born Canada immigrated 1856 MITHCELL Emelie niece 25, born July 1874 - house keeper, married 6 years, 1 child born 1 living, born WI parents born Canada HEBERT Lina niece 23 born March 1877 house keeper, born WI parents born Canada Rosana niece 16 born May 1884 house keeper born WI parents born Canada --------------------------------------- Mary is shown born WI same as in 1880 census. If the family came in 1856 then it makes sense that Mary and Emma were born WI but Archer should have been born Canada.I have not found Archer in any other census records. --------------------------------------- I tired to find the family in 1870 and 1860 when they should be in the U.S. but have had no luck so far. As Mary and Emma should be born WI about 1861 and 1864 they should be in WI in all census likely. I have a feeling the spelling of the names may be off so will try a few more ideas before I give up. I have also tried to find Abraham in 1851 Canadian census. He should be there. I found other Abraham Heberts but none of close to right age. ****** ****** I just found another post you will be interested in - someone searching same family - here is the link http://genforum.genealogy.com/hebert/messages/2150.html This searcher says her grandparents were William and Alice - your g-grandparents. I read all the connected posts and they give Ombeline's name as Ombeline Auger and say she and Abraham were married Jan. 9, 1849 St. Louis, Lotbiniere Co. QU So I will try again to find them in 1851 in this area. Here is a link to another post with followups: this has more on parents of Abraham Hebert (Jean Baptiste and Veronique MARCOTTE) http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?ombeline::hebert::1632.html There are more posts as well so take a look by going to Hebert forum and trying Ombeline to see what comes up. One of the posts says Archer died 1881 which explains why I didn't find him later on. So good luck with your search and I will let you know if I find any of the family in 1851 for Lotbiniere Co.
