Heburne in Oxford 1685
In "The Life and Times of Anthony Wood, antiquary, of Oxford, 1632-1695, described by Himself" Edited by Andrew Clark and published by the Oxford Historical Society, 1894, p.145, there is mention of " ...... Heburne, butler of New Inn, was committed to custody in the Castle".
This was at about mid-day on 22 June 1685, in connection with a rounding up of those suspected of sympathising with the Duke of Monmoutgh who had landed at Lyme on June 11th."New Inn" is, of course, New Inn Hall, which most of us would call a college of Oxford University.
