According to Teal's book (see 3/11/00 post), a Harris Hebb who went to Florida and later was killed in World War I was a son of Caleb Hebb (1840-1901) of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, and Louisa Conrad (1852-1935) of Nicolaus and Elisabeth (Conrad) Conrad. If this is your great-great-grandfather, he did not immigrate to Nova Scotia from Germany in 1880.He would have been a 5th generation Nova Scotian.
Caleb Hebb was a son of Johann Jacob Hebb ("Jacob") (1800-1885) of Hebbville, Nova Scotia, and Salome Conrad (born 1808) of Nicolaus and Barbara (Strump) Conrad.Jacob was a son of Johann Nicolaus Hebb ("Nicholas") (1776-1859) of Hebb Mills (now Hebbville) and Anna Dorothea Hirtle (1771-1826) of Jacob and Anna Maria (Schauffelberger) Hirtle.Nicholas was a son of Johann Adam Heb [sic] ("Adam") (1738-1803) of Hebb's Island (now Heckman's Island) and later of what is now Bridgewater and Anna Maria Schütz (1746-1811) of Hans Georg Schütz ("George").
Adam Heb came to Nova Scotia from Wilhelmsfeld, Rheinland Pfalz (Rhineland Palatinate), in what is now Germany in 1751 with his mother, step-father, half-sister and several step-brothers.Adam was a son of Johann Adam Heeb [sic] ("Adam") (ca1712-1738) of Falkengesäß, Hessen-Darmstadt (now part of Germany), and Anna Margaretha Franck (ca1703-1776) of Johann Adam and Eva Franck.Adam senior was a son of Wendel Heeb of Mangelsbach, Hessen-Darmstadt.
