I am Ivana Heavrin Carmon, from Morganfield, KY. I have a book that my great uncles put together. I have put it away - too well. They traced the family all the way back to Ireland and that Heavrin came to South Carolina and married a Irish girl that was an indentured slave. He bought her agreement and they moved to Union County, KY.
I do know that my great grandfather was Rowan Heavrin, his son was Fred Heavrin and my Dad was John Young Heavrin. All were farmers and had large families except my Dad - I'm the only one, The family have always been devout Catholics, and one of my great uncles was a priest. Practically all the men served in the military - mostly the Navy - my son is a Master Chief on a sub in CA. All the Heavrin's by name are bound to be distantly related to each other - it's such an unusual name!!
