Many Thanks for your help, Michael. The parents of Mary Ann Heavey[William's wife] nee Craghan, [Creaghan and variants] were George Creaghan from Galway,a coalwhipper, and Elinor{Ellen] from Cork. They had been in London since at least 1835, when my Great Grandfather was born. Of course William could have arrived later.He said on his marriage cert. his father was John a stone mason. I did find a John Heavey,age 44,coalwhipper, and family in Shadwell, in the 1851 census, from Ireland,no place given. Might be a connection, but so far nothing to prove it!
