No, I'm a Welch descendant and became interested in this family in an attempt to identify the origins of Nicholas Welch, Peggy Hembree's (David) husband. This new information makes Elizabeth Nic and Peggy's oldest child.

I don't agree with much of the posted information on this Nic or his father. I think that his father was Major Nicholas Welch, whose land was confiscated in Lincoln Co, NC during the Revolution. His family was exiled to Savannah, then East FL, and Major Nicholas went to the Bahamas after the first Spanish census of FL. He shows back up in SC by 1789.
