It is possible that the family was in the process of moving from Pickens Co. to Spartanburg Co. at the time of the census. I had that happen to me between Georgia and South Carolina. They were in Georgia and were enumerated. By the time they got to South Carolina, the census taker there enumerated them again, so for one year, I have the family in two different states. Talk about confusion, that created some.
