Looking for information on Francis Heaton or Francis Woodward that was murdered in 1879 in Spartanburg SC while finding her way, on foot, to the home of her uncle Pascal O'Shields. Her killer was JJ Moore, who was lynched by a mob of angry citizens. One article read that Francis was one of 3 orphan girls. Another article stated that she came from a good home. The federal mortality schedule listed her as married, so I assume that Woodward was her married name. My gr-gr-grandmother was Elizabeth Heaton, married William Pascal O'Shields.
