Callaway Green HEATH (b.23 Feb 1831-d.26 Dec 1910). Born in Cabell Co VA. (Various documents have it Callaway or Calloway).. He married 15 Nov 1852 Milly Ann HOLLOWAY (b. 22 Feb 1834 in Benton Co. MO and died 14 Oct. 1893 in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara Co. CA.) Milly Ann Holloway was the daughter of John Holloway b.1 Jan 1809 in Clark Co. KY and Nancy Kemp Foster. (b. 13 Feb 1809 SC and died 25 Jan 1885 in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara Co. CA.
Callaway G. Heath’s 1910 obituary read:
Early Monday morning at the John Heath ranch Calloway Green Heath passed from this life into the great beyond at the advanced age of seventy nine years, ten months and three days. Mr. Heath was one of the oldest residents of the Santa Maria valley. He was a native of Virginia and received his early education in the schools of that state. He came to California first in 1849, making the overland trip across the plains. He made several journeys on foot to the east crossing the plains both coming and going, but he finally came to California to stay about twenty-five years ago and selected Santa Maria valley as his abiding place. From that day to the day of his demise he has been a resident of this valley and during his long residence among this people has won for himself a warm place in the hearts of his neighbors. He leaves surviving him five sons, namely TS Heath, JH Heath, Chas F Heath, WJ Heath, and JE Heath, also two daughters, Mrs. M.B. Richardson and Mrs. M.L. Peters. John Halloway of Los Alamos is also a relative. The funeral took place from the residence on Tuesday, the interment being in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
