i have always been told that it's pronounced hayslip, however my dad was dismayed to hear that his own cousin was pronouncing it hesslip. he insists that hayslip is the correct version (but he is somewhat of a type A anyways), and nobody ever guesses that's how it's pronounced by it's spelling, which means i'm left in the unfortunate position of having to correct them all the time! (and i'm from ontario, canada)
