i'm surprised no one has answered this question, i'm glad my father knew and shared this part of his heritage with me. the original form of heaslip (and other spellings i would assume) is 'hesleyhop' and even though it sounds like a joke, it's not.;) it means 'dwellers of hazel valley'.
