Margaret: According to the Hearne Family History book it records the following: "He enlisted in the Colonial Army 1776 and served to the end of the war, participating in the capture and surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. His eldest grandson served eleven months in the Confederate Army at the same place during the Civil War. After the Revolutionary War, Drewery Hearne emigrated to South Carolina and married Karen Bledsoe of Edfield District, and settled on a farm about two and one-half miles east of Meeting Street Post Office and Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church in Edgefield Co. twelve miles north of Edgefield Courthouse. He lived here through life and accumulated a large property. He was a noble and good man, a great friend to the poor. He died in 1839 and was buried at his homestead. His wife sirvived him about 20 years and was buried at the same place."

I have him being born in September 1755 in North Carolina and died October 14, 1839. Hope this helps. Maggie
