I'm looking for information on my gggrandfather and his family. 1860 lived Beat 6 Tallapoosa AL (Walnut Hill Post Office)Blacksmith. In 1861 Jubal enlisted in the Confederate Army at 65 with the Croft's Battery of Columbus GA, in 1862 he was "discharged on account of Disabiltity and old age". His last child might have been born about 1865. 1870 Census has only his children living Eufaula, Tallapposa,AL.
Wife: Sarah Ann "Elizabeth" Jackson (b)1821 AL d/o James Jackson and Nancy Ines
Children:
Harry(Henry) A Heard (b)1841 AL
James Heard (b)1843 AL m: Martha Jane Gardner
Pascal M Heard (b)1845 AL m:1Dicey R Melton;2Nancy E Nowlin; 3Lue Ella ___(?) Duckworth
Nancy Heard (b)1848 AL m:John Blackham
Thomas Heard (b)abt 1851 AL m:Caroline
John Heard (b)abt 1852 AL
Jane Heard (b)abt 1856 AL m: Unkn Davis
William Heard (b)abt 1858 AL m:1 Unkn 2Martha Walker
Sarah Heard (b)1865 AL

From research done by Grace Poole[extensive info has been complied by her], It is thought his father was Stephen Heard and unknown. This has not been proven. Stephen would have been born abt 1760 Rockfish River, VA then moved to Greene County, GA. where Jubal may have been born 1796.

Stephen Heard and Jubal(age 24) lived in Knights Dist, Morgan GA and were both in the 1820 Land Lottery as well as several other Heards. sp[Herd]. Stephen is on the 1820 Census but not Jubal. It is because of the land lottery record that we know Jubal was in Knights District.
1830 Jubal is in DeKalb, GA with wife, dau and son. (wife & children are not the same as AL wife and children).

Jubal would have been 1/2 Cherokee, if the the family legend is correct.

Several of Jubal's children moved to Texas sometime between 1870-1880 including my Great Grandfather Paschal Heard.

If anyone has information about this family and would be willing share, I will do the same.
