Hi,
Having a browse and butting in.I am a Heaps by birth, family originating from the Eastend of London.I too am stuck. My father was Henry Charles with brothers William, George, Thomas, Edward that I can remember. My grandfather was Henry Charles married to Margaret and they lived in the Clerkenwell/Holborn area of East London. My great grandfather was also Henry Charles to the best of my knowledge. Both g/father and gg/father were what were then known as carmen i.e. drivers/conductors on public transport. There I come to an end as I am unable to trace a Thomas and Elizabeth who I believe to be my gg/fathers parents.I keep ending up in Doddington, Cambridgeshire. My father who died in 1971 always said his family came from Liverpool.Unfortunately the Heaps family seemed to name most of its male children either Henry, Charles, Thomas, William or George.By the way, if Alan Heaps should read this, he has a names sake in Essex - my brother.I have a copy of the 1881 Census and it is from this that I keep ending up in Cambridge.
Anyone interested can e-mail me directly if I can be of any help.
