Hello Arthur...
I know the message is a bit dated.. but I thought you'd like to know that the Ebenezer Tom is referring to,is the son of Paul Healy, (brother to your direct ancestor Nathaniel)the youngest child of William Healy (Hele) - his 11th - and the 2nd child of his 4th wife, Phebe Green. Ebenezer in turn was the youngest child of Paul, but our source says he was probably bornin 1709 in Rehoboth, as his baptism is on May 1, 1709. (The source for this by the way is from James Bayard Haley's Book - "The Haley and Healy Family Ancestry of Ebenezer Haley, California Pioneer of 1850, With an Account Of His Descendants To The Present Day" - (c) 1964
Tom is jumping the gun a bit on the Burringham/Devonshire controversy.. he is drawing on Colonel Haley's assertion that William Healy (Hele) came from Burringham - Lincolnsire, not Devonshire.. and using that as fact..Colonel Haley states both theories in his book and then gives some evidence as to why he believes the family is from Lincolnshire.. (and I am not going to even get into the fact that some evidence found in Canadian government records and family stories says William Healy was actually of Irish origin.. not English -I leave that for another time:) regardless... Tom and his line and my line and yours are all related, albeitnot close. Our Ebenezer who went to NS would have been a first cousin I believe to your Joshua Healy from where I think you said your line came from.
As for the Yarmouth NS part of the story...you have that correct.. but you are missing one son from that list - he also had a son named Ebenezerborn in 1759 in Brimfield Mass... he would have been 3 when his father and kin moved to Yarmouth..he eventually married Sarah Landers in 1795 and would wind up being one of the first settlers in what is now the village of Springford Ontario (South Norwich Township, Oxford County)in 1811.. he died in 1847, and is buried in Springford Ontario Cemetery (after he moved down this way.. he went by the name "Squire" which was a title given to him by the British Government.. he never used his given name Ebenezer)
That Springford story isnt in Colonel Haley's book btw.. he only was able to take what the Nova Scotia Records gave him... they lost track of Squire Ebenezer and family after they came to Ontario...we Haley descendants had to fill in the blanks for them:)
Tom Hipps line by the way comes from John Healy (or Haley) , son of Ebenenzer and brother to Squire Ebenezer (who I've just noticed you also dont mention in your narration on Ebenenzer's sons and daughters. He was born in around1770 in Chebogue, Nova Scotia - dont confuse him with an earlier son named John who had died in childhood in 1752)Their family came to the Springford Ontario area in the 1850's.. and would eventually end up in Michigan, where Tom is located.
