The only thing I have on Andrew and Alfred Heady (who were black) from Kentucky, were their Civil War records, showing them enlisted in a black regiment. After studying a bit about the Civil War, I learned a number of black slaves, joined the Union Army in the Civil War, with the hope of being freed. Even more fascinating is the Battle of New Orleans, which many feel was the turning point for the Civil War, and could have easily been lost to the South. Andrew Jackson managed to muster the black regiments, pirates, and a rather unlikely array of individuals, to ultimately win the battle. I also have a slave narrative about a "Master" Heady, who wasn't too kind. I'll see if I can muster up these records somewhere, and put them on-line. It wasn't until very recently, that I found any records referencing any Headys, which were black. It would be interesting to know their stories, and any history they may know.
