My Headley relatives were Northumbrian English, and the Headley name is of old English origin:

habitational name from any of various places, for example in Hampshire, Surrey, Worcestershire, and West Yorkshire, so called from Old English h?š ‘heathland’, ‘heather’ + leah ‘wood’, ‘clearing’.
