The earliest of our Headley family that we know of are Daniel S. Headley died 29 Dec 1862 and his wife Nancy Ann Simpkins married and settled in Sangamon Co. Springfield Illinois.
Their children all born in Springfield Illinois were:
James Gordon Headley b. 5 April 1842 d. 16 May 1934 in California. 1st wife unknown? 2nd wife Mary Campbell
Hannah S. Headley b. 1843 d 9 August 1859
Thomas H. Headley b.1845 d. 8 June 1861
Elizabeth S. Headley b. 7 May 1847 d. 1 September 1926 married William Campbell in 1870.
Zachary Taylor Headley b. 14 February 1849 d. 7 March 1864
Nancy Ann Headley b. 3 November 1850 d. November 1878
John Daniel Headley b.28 November 1854 d. 18 July 1941 buried in Louisiana. Married Ida May Harden.
Elmira Headley b. 1855 d. 9 August 1856
Emma A Headley b. 18 November 1857 d. 23 July 1927 in Canton Ohio (in sister Eva's home) and buried in Springfield Illinois. Married to Mr. Blakeney.
Eva Marie Headley b. 18 March 1860 d. 22 February 1939 married to Samuel J. Caughey.
Several of these children were 1st buried in the Hutchinson Cemetery in Springfield Illinois but were later reinterred in Oak Ridge Cemetery when the City decided to build a High School on the Cemetery Grounds. Now they are buried in the same Cemetery as President Abraham Lincoln.
Elizabeth Headley and her husband William Campbell and two of thier daughters Cora and Emma are buried in the same cemetery on the Campbell lot elsewhere.
Donald Campbell son of William Campbell and Elizabeth Headley a young child is buried on the Headley lot.
My mother Margaret Ruth Woodruff born 19 October 1903 is granddaughter to William Campbell and Elizabeth Headley. Her Mother being thier daughter Janet Campbell aka "Jessie"
Margaret Ruth Woodruff is buried with her husband William Townsend Robertson b.27 September 1907 in Oak Hill Cemetery in Springfield Illinois.
