Louis,
From census records , etc. ,this is what I conclude:
Issac Howze b. abt. 1788 in Ga. d.before 1850 in La.
married 12-27-1805 in Jackson Co., Ga. to Sarah "Sallie" Headen who was b.1790 in Ga. and d. after 1860 in Livingston Parish, La. Their children were 1. male b.abt.1807 2.William b.1809 (my ancestor)3.Catharine b.1811
4.female b.1810-1815 probably 1814-1815 5.James b. 1817 6.Lucinda b.1819 7.male b.1820-1825 probably 1821 8.female b.1820-1825 probably 1823 9.Morris b.1825 10.Adelaine b.1831 . William was b. in Ga.in 1809 and Lucinda was b. in La. in 1819 so the move to La. was sometime during that 10 year period.
In a book on Livingston Parish settlers ( that I saw in the library )under the Howze family it states that William Howze was born in Germany (untrue!!) He was born in Georgia to ISSAC HOUSE and SARAH HEADEN. It goes on to state that Jane came from Ala. (NOT correct, she was born in La. to James J. Morgan and Levinia Durbin) and that they came from Washington Parish to Livingston Parish about 1860. As you can see by the census reports that is NOT correct. The HOUSE , HEADEN, MORGAN and DURBIN families were all in the Livingston Parish area by 1800-1810.
William Howze and Jane (Morgan) Howze settled in the Eight Ward ,Section 4, Township 6, Range 5, Livingston Parish. They had a cotton gin and grist mill on their place. It was located near what was then Otts Mill post office, about six miles northwest of Holden, Louisiana. They are buried in the family cemetery there.
I'm not including the census reports but I have them from 1840 to 1880 ,first in St. Helena Parish and after Livingston Parish was created from part of St. Helena they are listed in Livingston Parish. Bev
