Heather, I'm descended from William Headen's son William Headen, Jr. b. 12-14-1760 and d. before 1839 in Livingston Parish, La. He married Susannah Robertson b. c 1762 and d. before 1839. These are the notes I have on William , Jr. Different records use HEADEN and HAYDEN interchangably. I am using HEADEN because that was most used on other records. Both spellings are pronounced HAY-DEN by descendants so be aware in looking at records that it could be spelled either way. William Headen is listed 2 times in the "Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution" by Bobby Gilmore Moss , Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. 1983. In the early 1800s most of the Headen family and various in-laws and friends moved to Louisiana. An Abstract of Settlers given in the American State Papers, Volume III, Legislative and Executive of the Congress of the United States, commencing December 4, 1815 and ending May 27, 1824 show the following settlers: ALLEN HEADEN I claim, April, 1807; REUBEN BEAVERS, 1 claim, 1809 (Reuben Beavers married William Headen, Jr.'s daughter, Mary) JOHN HEADEN, 1 purchase, 1811; ISSAC HOUSE,1claim, 1809 (Issac Howze married William Headen's daughter, Sarah) LEVI BANKSTON (an in-law) 1 settlement, 1812; JOHN BANKSTON, (an in-law) 1 settlement,1812; PETER BANKSTON (an in-law) 1 settlement, 1809; MATHEW ROBERTSON, 1 claim, December, 1804; WILEY ROBERTSON (in-law) 1 claim, 1806. The following settlement claims are specifically listed as being in St. Tammany Parish: DAVID ROBERTSON , 1 claim, 1808; JOSEPH DURBIN (in-law) 1 claim, 1807; DAVID McCULLOGH (married William Headen,Jr.'s daughter,Elizabeth) 1 claim in East Baton Rouge; SIMEON C. BANKSTON (in-law) 1 claim, 1 purchase, 1812. (This information was taken from a book titled "Wiley, Core, Bennett and Other Ancestors" by Leroy Willie. I don't know what relationship all the men listed as in-laws are to William Headen, Jr. The ones I know , I put in parenthesis and explained their relationship. A joint sucession was filed for the estate inventory of William and Susannah Headen on 19 August 1839. All children were listed.
