Carolyn, I am doing genealogical research on my family and I love the "hunt". I have not been actively doing any research on my husband's family, the Headens. However, my husband's grandparents are still living and I have been asking them some questions while I still have the opportunity. Your query caught my eye, because Pepa said that his family was very hard to trace. The reason---the records were in the Polk Co., TN courthouse which had burned down!! I went back to my notes from our last "discussion" and "low and behold" there was your Adeline. I do not have a great deal of info., but would love to exchange info. with you. Here is what I have: William Harvey Headen (6/5/1855-1/24/1919) m. Harriett Louise Rymer (1854-1941). They were buried in southwest VA, west of Abingdon, near St. Paul, Norton and Castlewood. Their children: (1) George Washington (8/30/1874-3/4/1948) (This is my husband's g-grandfather. He was buried 5 miles south of Wytheville, VA at Galilee Christian Church.) (2) Margaret "Maggie" Elizabeth (Wells) (12/19/1876 GA - 1/22/1961) (She lived in Marion, VA in 1948.) (3) Addie (Blivens)(Clark) (1878-1958) (She lived in New Salem, PA in 1948.) (4) Emma (Roberson) (4/30/1881-11/7/1967) (She married Henry Roberson and lived in Castlewood, VA in 1961.) (5) Allen J. (5/12/1884-10/7/1960) (He lived in Huntington, WV in 1948.) (6) Dora (Tolbert) (3/17/1887-1/12/1968) (She lived in Castlewood, VA in 1961.) George Washington Headen's "report card" shows that he was in 4th grade in 1891-92 in Jonesboro, TN. He was born in Polk Co., TN. I have a list of his children and their dates. My husband's grandfather is the youngest and only living child. He was born in Wythe Co., VA on 2/15/1915. I hope to hear from you, Cindy (Hubbard) Headen mheaden@kimbanet.com
