Moses H Hazelwood was the son of Isaac & Jane Head Hazelwood. Mos was born c1849, Jane c1849. Isacc and his wife Jane, had migrated from Union Co. SC to Pickens Co.Ga. in about 1833. Isaac was the son of Lancaster & Dorcas Warwick Hazelwood. Lancaster was born 14 Feb 1768 of Thomas & Mary Lancaster Hazelwood in Union District SC and was the grandson of Richard & ? Hazelwood. Richard was born c1712 & died 11 Dec 1760, in Isle of Wight, Virginia Colony.
Back to Moses, Mos had siblings: Jane T., Benjamin; Allinder; Josiah (Joseph); and John Henry, my ggrandfather(there may be more). Sometime around 1861, in the face of war, most of the family uprooted and went to St.Clair and Clay Counties, Alabama. It is unclear to me just who all went or stayed. I know John went to Clay Co. with his wife and children, including James Henry H', my grandfather, whom eventually migrated to WV with his second wife & family. Brothers Ben, Joe and John, fought in the Civil War
and father Isaac was in the Ga. Militia.
Moses had a great aunt named Elizabeth (b c1736) along with great uncles Randolph and George, all born in Isle of Wight, Virginia. Mos also had "many" cousins with these same "family" names.
If anyone has traced beyond Richard (1728-1760), or has linked Richard with England, please e-mail me.gmh
