Two Thomas Haywards, early 1600s

I am totally confused with children of these two:
Thomas Hayward, b.1 Jan 1601, Aylesford, Essex, England; m. Susannah (Towne?); d. 1681 Bridgewater, Plymouth, MA;
ch:Mary, Nathaniel, Thomas, Elizabeth,John, Susan, Martha, Joseph.
and
Thomas Hayward, b. c. 1617, England; m. Martha; ch: Mehitable, b. 1652
Both families lived in Bridgewater. Can anyone verify that I have children with proper parents, and is there any relationship between the two Thomases?
