Haysom in Swanage, Dorset, UK c1800
A recently published book on Swanage listed several references to the HAYSOM family:
"... contemporary family records suggest that five Haysom brothers - whose father had died as a younger son of a family with a little property in north Dorset - came to Swanage at this time [late 17th century] and entered the stone trade; by 1800 one in twenty of the population of about 1,000 was named Haysom."
I am researching a Susan(nah) HAYSOM born about 1816, daughter of George HAYSOM (a stone mason). She married - as a widow - Henry GOULDING in Winchester in 1846.
- Does anyone know if John Haysom's kind offer of information about Dorset HAYSOMs (see this board) is still available?
- Does anyone know more about the "contemporary family records" mentioned above?
