Words of Warning

I learned a painful lesson this weekend. It is very important to let family members know that what you are doing is important. That you are not just dabbling in this, because you are bored and can't think of anything else to do. You need to find someone who is just as interested in this as you are and realizes how important it is. Give them a copy of your work, put your's under lock and key, giving ONLY that person the extra key, and leave it to them in your will. My father-in-law died recently, unfortunely I never got to meet him and get copies of his research. He spent 15 years researching his family and now it is all gone, because his youngest son didn't think it was important and that his father was just dabbling in it. He didn't have a computer, so it was all done by hand. He visited different places, bought information, and spent years on something that was important to him. And, now it is all gone. Believe it or not, it was all thrown in the trash after he died. It breaks my heart that the man was done this way. So, it is best to make plans ahead of time about what you want done with your research. Why am I posting here, his last name was Hayslett. He is related to Andrew and from what I understand, he was even further back than Andrew, alot further. I am sorry, I was hoping to carry on with what was important to him. Thank you for your time, Laraine.
