Alexander Hays & Jane Lucas

I have a theory, and I am hoping that someone here can help me figure out if it's true or not...

My 3g grandfather is listed in the 1850 Lawrence Co. (IL) and 1870 Fountain Co. (IN) census as Sandy A. Hays, and I know Sandy was often a nickname for Alexander. Both censuses say that he was born in VA, and based on his recorded age, he would have been born ~1807. The IL census lists his wife as Jane, who was born in KY ~1808. However, the 1870 IN census lists not Jane but Lucy, who would have been born in KY ca. 1818, based on her recorded age. I can't find any record of Sandy ever being married to a Lucy, so I don't know if she was a second wife or another family member or what.

I know there is a Clay Co. marriage record for Alexander Hays and Jane Lucas, and I am wondering if this is my "Sandy" and Jane. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thank you!
