Hi Lester. I also believe that Hannah Harnett married to Alfred Hays, son of Judge David Hays and Polly Boroff. the marriage records in Clark County say in 1827, making Hannah about 21 years of age. On Hannah Hays Cemetery Marker it reads.
Hannah Hays
25 March 1843
36y 3m
Wife of Alfred Hays
My great grandmother Mahala Hays was born on 18 Feb. 1843 and lived almost 88 years. Alfred Hays married Charlotte Rupert in 1848 in Mercer Co. and had another child within a year. I think lacking evidence to the contrary that Alfred may have said that he was younger than he actually was when courting Charlotte, this wouldn't be the first time that I have seen that happen in my own family. Judge David Hays was born in 1787 and Polly Boroff may have been close to that. So they were old enough to have had Alfred earlier than 1813. And while there are several James, John, and David Hays, there arn't many Alfred's. Clark County lies next to Fayette County, and Logan County where Hannah Hays is buried in New Philadelphia Cemetery is not far from Clark or Mercer Counties.
