I am interested in this JOHN Hays.Do you happen to have any estate papers for him?I had ordered pension papers for him from National Archives and was told there weren't any.Of course I may have had the wrong state on my form.I put he served from Va.
I've got a plat for ISAAC and THOMAS Hays for 962 1/2 acres on Bear Creek, waters of Savannah dated March 1807.I do not know whether this was land grant or who they bought it from. This seems to be in proximity to JOHN Hays (married to Mary).
In Sept 1814 both THOMAS and JOHN sold land (probably some of the same as above) on Bear Creek (these deeds not recorded until 1820).
Do you know how WILLIAM Hays, Sr. in Pendleton relates to this JOHN Hays? WILLIAM, Sr. was married to a Winny.
There are several THOMAS Hayses in the 1810 time frame as adults in Pendleton.Do you know whether the THOMAS you speak of (brother of ISAAC ?) was married to Charlotte Orr?
The JOHN Hays on Bear Creek sold some of his land to Robert Orr and that deed was recorded Apr. 8, 1811.
I am descended from a THOMAS Hayes b. abt. 1792 and lived on Mt. Creek in Pendleton(Anderson). He was m. to Sarah Nixon.I'm lookig for his father and think it could be JOHN, WILLIAM,or THOMAS (above).
I'll also throw out that JOHN Hays (wife Mary) sold to THOMAS Hays 190 acres in Dec. 1798 on NE Keowee. This seemed to be the same land that HENRY Hays got in 1794.
Also a JOHN Hays got 320 acres on Mt. Creek in 1796 and I don't know whether this is the same JOHN.
Also see my messages on this Forum titled JAMES, THOMAS, JOHN, EDINS-SC.Others have posted there that are working on the Pendleton group of Hays.
