So he did have two wives then? I thought that was a mistake on our family tree. I was here researching this to try to correct the problem. My ancestor Thomas Harding IV shows Capt. John Haynie as his great grandfather on both sides of the family. While this may be the case, there are still some problems. On the one side, it shows Captain John Haynie as being married to Elizabeth Bledsoe and having a daughter named Grace Haynie, Thomas' grandmother. On the other side it shows Capt. John Haynie as married to Jane Morris and having a daughter named Anne Haynie, Thomas' other grandmother. This would make Grace's daughter Mary Berry, who was Thomas' mother and Thomas III, Thomas' father first cousins, which of course is not unheard of. Where I think we get into a problem is that it shows the Capt. John whose daughter is Anne as having the parents John Haynie and Elizabeth. It says this Capt' John (b 1624) was born in Virginia, but his mother and father John (B about 1590) and Elizabeth were born in England. I suspect there's a problem here, but not sure what it is.
