Evelyn, We have had my nephews DNA done on the Hanes Family Tree DNA, and found 14 partial matches, all of them with different last names. We were never able to go beyond my ggrandfather Charles Hanes born 1849 died 1907. He was supposed to have been born in Wayne Co. Indiana, and his parents in Maryland. They were supposed to have been of English and Scotch decent. We have no documentaion of any of this. His wife was denied a Civil War pension after his death, although he was supposed to have served. It has been my theory that he and his siblings were adopted out to different families, or some of his ancestry were. We had the 67 marker done, and I am sure that in time, we will have a 67 marker match that we can glean some information from. Judy Hanes Thornton Notify Administrator about this message?
