I am also researching the name Hayman. My g grandfather was William Hayman and came to the Pictou County area of Nova Scotia, Canada from the Campbeltown area of Scotland in about 1849. What I wanted to tell you was that a friend of mine mentioned to me that her husband had gone to university (Kings College --part of Dalhousie University) in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a Hayman fellow from St. Stephen, New Brunswick. I also heard from another source that there were Haymans in St. Stephen. I will be seeing my friend tomorrow night and will ask her for this person's name. If I were you, I would either write the Archives in Fredericton, NB or take a trip down and go through the records. I assume the Ganong is the Ganong Chocolate Company in St. Stephen (the best chocolates in North American I think). I also know a person who is researching the name Hayman. He lives in Ottawa, Ontario and his ancestor came to Canada after fighing in the US in one of the regiments. I believe he knows something about the Hayman, St. Stephen connection. His ancestor also came from Campbeltown to the US in the seventeen hundreds. We refer to them here as the Colchester Haymans who we always assumed were not related to us. However, I am beginning to think that there probably is a a Scotland connection as the names are all the same and the place of origin is the same. Good luck and I will see what I can do.
