Dear Hayes/Tritt researchers:
I have just returned from the Tritt Family Research meeting in Carlisle, PA, where I presented the Louisiana story of Elizabeth Tritt Hayes and was given accurate information on her origins. The researchers have always been puzzled about what happened to Elizabeth and her husband after their marriage in 1774.
This group has asked me to write her story and collect her descendants for future publication. I am VERY INTERESTED IN MAKING CONTACT WITH HER DESCENDANTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE DONE ORIGINAL RESEARCH ON THE LINES OF EACH OF HER CHILDREN:John; David; Michael; Betsy; and Polly.I descend from Polly as well as David.Polly married Edmund Rose.Their three sons, each married granddaughters of David Hayes.I did Hayes research in the early 1980's which now needs to be updated, verified, etc.I would like to being a dialogue on the existing records relating to Elizabeth Tritt and Melchior/Malachy Hoos/Haas/Hays etc.
You may contact me directly at [email protected] as well as post an answer here.I am also going to post a new message to the Hayes genforum with more data on the records that I have available.I look forward to hearing from you all:

The Tritt Family History Vol. I is the history of her family in Switzerland and France back to into the 1500's, where the family name apparently originated. This beautiful book is accurately documented and is available at http://www.tritt.orghttp://www.tritt.org
Anna Elizabeth Tritt b about 1748 was the third child of Hans Peter Tritt, Jr. and his first wife Catharina (perhaps Bechtel? or Dietrich? - more research needed)She was christened at Muddy Creek Church in Lancaster Co. PA on December 7, 1748.
She is found briefly in the Orphan records in the settlement of her father's estate and as the baptismal sponsor of a nephew.
She and her half-brother, Paul, both married on September 27, 1774 at the First Reformed Church, York PA.The name of Elizabeth's husband, which has been translated as Melchior Hooss is actually very difficult to read in the original record. He is shown in other York County records as Heess and Melchor Hays.Haas is also a very common name in the York Co. PA area.
