You know that Standwick Hays was born in South Carolina and from the census record of 1860 it states that he was 63 yrs old, making him born abt 1787.On the 1790 census, there are only a handful of Hays in the state of South Carolina.Their names are William, Matthew, John (4), Joseph, George, Henry, Thomas (2), William, Molly, and Park.
If the Murphree, Cornelius, Bynum, Allgood, etc. families came to Blount Co. about 1818, then there is a possibility that one of the "Hays" families also came about that time period.Have you checked the early records of Blount Co. to see if there are any Hays listed?
William Hays lived in Abbeville Sc, Matthew lived in Camden District, John lived in Chester, Joseph lived in Prince Georges, Georgetown...I don't think these would have been your Standwick's father, but any of the ones in Pendleton could have been...They are George, Henry, John, Thomas, & William Hays.
In the old "naming" Patterns the first born son was named after the father's father.Do you know the name of the first born son of Standwick? The second born son was named after the mother's father, the third born son was named after the father, then it was oldest brother of father, etc. etc.
