Hays/Hayes in Ohio from Co. Kerry
I am searching for information on my Hays/Hayes family from Co. Kerry, Ireland. My farthest back known immigrant ancestor of the surname is Johanna Hays, b.abt. 1840 in Co. Kerry. She came to the states and ended up in Greene County, Ohio, where she married my g-g-g grandfather, Michael McNamara Sr. (b.abt 1835 in Co. Tipperary) in Xenia, Greene County, Ohio at St. Brigid's Catholic Church. Later, they moved to Madison County after having a few kids, where they owned several different farms: they moved around a bit, but finally bought a farm near the village of London in Union and Deercreek Twps. She died of consumption on April 28th, 1884, at the age of 44 years. She had 9 children, eight of whom survived.I can give you all their names if you need them.Anyhow, she attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in London, Ohio and her and her husband even bought the church a stained glass window. She is buried in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, next to her husband, but nobody ever bothered to put his name on the lovely monument.
Sound at all familiar?I'd love to hear from you if you possibly have a similar line or have any tips! Thanks!
