I am looking for the parentage of James Hayden. According to the 1880 census, he was living in Delaware County, Indiana with his wife Jerusha.
He was born in Pennsylvania circa. 1816, and his father and mother were both born in New Jersey.
I assume that they are connected with the Morris County clan of Haydens there.
There are a number of other Haydens in Delaware County in 1880, including a Jeremiah Hayden, who is the same age as James and was born in Pennsylvania with parents born in New Jersey. I wonder if they might be twins or cousins.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. James's death is not indexed in Delaware County death records, so he may have died before 1882.
I descend from their daughter Morelda (alternately spelled Merilla, Marilda, and Marilla) who married James B. VanNatter. She was born in 1855.
